Googel War on Content farms and how it affects the rest of us!

On the Google blog Amit Singal and Matt Cutts talk about some new changes to the way the ranking algorithms have been formatted. I keep telling my clients that the content on their site has to be original, targeted to their business and services and now it seems that those who have ignored my words will pay the price. Google will be demoting websites that have low-value add content for their sites visitors and those who copy content from other websites or if Google deems the sites content is just not very useful.

"Our goal is simple: to give people the most relevant answers to their queries as quickly as possible. This requires constant tuning of our algorithms, as new content—both good and bad—comes online all the time."

This quote from the blog reaffirms my plea to my clients that it is imperative that they stay on top of their websites content. The upside to this is that those sites that have fresh, relative content that is their own and not copied from some other site will see a huge boost in their sites position on the Google results pages. It goes without saying that those who diligently update their sites content will see even better returns than those who believe they can set it and forget it.
