Do you know where your site is?

Many people think they are getting a great deal at $5.95 a month for their web hosting. Little do they know that they may be sharing not only the server they are on (which is common) but also their IP. Which could be also hosting a site that is scamming others, selling porn or worse used to phish unsuspecting users. If you have a website and want to check that your website is not being blacklisted. There are some great sites that will help you find out.

So, how do you know that the IP you are sharing has not been blacklisted or has way to many sites on it and why should I care?

You can use a tool such as Robtext (if you are using a shared Hosting Provider) To see who you are sharing space with and if you should be proactive to request a move to another shared space. For example:http://www.robtex.com/dns/joomla.org.html or for REALLY cool information: Google.com:http://www.robtex.com/dns/google.com.html shows domain, shared, whois, blacklist, analysis, contact.

I will follow up on this article in another post and add more details and help for those who need help. If you have found that your site is on one of the black lists and want to know how to fix it please contact me and I would be happy to help you with this.
