Featured Content on your website
Featured content is a must for any business oriented website but that isn't to say that they are the only ones who should capitalize on this feature. Although this element of a website can be a challenge to implement and get right. It is time spent wisely to optimize your content based on your visitor’s actions.
Let me explain what featured content is so we are on the same page. Featured content is a marketing tool that is used to collect information on your sites visitors. Things such as what links they are clicking and what images they are moving their mouse over or clicking on and what search queries they are making in your search fields. The featured content tool then takes that data and shows featured content in key areas on the pages that are in line with what the visitor is clicking on.
So for example let’s say your website is selling furniture and a visitor enters your website from an inbound link that has the keywords sofa, love seat attached to it. The featured content program takes that data and populates the key areas of the site with information on sofas, love seats, recliners and anything else you have programed for those keywords. So you can see the power this would have in helping to drive your visitors to the right pages and make a sale without any trouble.
Think of it as the sales person in your shop where they see the guy in the tools area and he is looking at the drills. By the time the sales person reaches the customer they already have a really good idea about what the customer is interested in. Since we don't have the luxury of having a sales professional on our website this is the next best thing and in fact in reality is even better. The featured content program doesn't have to guess about why the customer is there. Following the clicks of the visitor it already knows what they are looking for.
This can also be used like the "customers who bought this also bought" feature to sweeten the deal even more by generating interest in something they really did not start out looking for. Even if it doesn't make a big enough impact now, they will be thinking about it and will return to your site when they are ready to make that purchase. When they do we will be ready to offer those even more sweet deals that if done right will keep bringing them back. The other thing this does for the website is to establish customer loyalty because they are confident that they will find what they are looking for when they come to your site.
So now you are probably asking yourself "how can I get that on my website?".
